Solis String Quartet
Solis String Quartet is a musical project of international scale originated in 1991 from the meeting in Naples of 4 composers and arrangers: Vincenzo Di Donna (Violin), Gerando Morrone (Viola), Luigi De Maio (Violino) Antonio Di Francia (Cello).
Their artistic work is marked by the skill of mixing jazz, world music, pop and contemporary music; this quality, and the technical skill acquired during the conservatory years in San Pietro a Majella, have allowed them to work together with some internationally acclaimed musicians. A few names: Dulce Pontes, Andrea Vollenweider, Pat Metheney, Richard Galliano, Jimmy Cliff, Maria Joao, Omar Sosa, Hevia, Noa.
They have also worked with important Italian singers like Claudio Baglioni, Ligabue, Gianna Nannini, Negramaro, Elisa, Adriano Celentano, Eugenio Finardi, Edoardo Bennato, Daniele Silvestri, Michele Zarrillo, Peppe Servillo, Ornella Vanoni, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Max Pezzali, Avion Travel, 99Posse, to only mention a few.
Solis appeared in the 1996 event Pavarotti & Friends with Edoardo Bennato, and they took part in the Festival di Sanremo as competitors. The first time they played with Elisa, in 2001, then with Noa and Carlo Fava in 2006. They also appeared as guests in the Festival di Sanremo in 2010 with Marco Mengoni with a particular arrangement for quartet only of the song called ‘’Credimi ancora’’ and in 2012 together with Eugenio Finardi.
